Who is Uranus?
Uranus was established in 2007 in Istanbul, Turkey. It has a documentary photo archive of approximately one million pictures from 17 different countries. Uranus’ photos have been compiled by Erdal Yazıcı, and consist of life, arts, culture, nature, economy, environment and natural disasters. With its staff, Uranus also shoots documentaries for individuals and institutions, and organises exhibitions of such photos. The publishing house has Travel Guides, Guides / Documentaries, Travel / Stories, Memoirs and History books. In addition, it also publishes biographies of individuals and promotional books (books, magazines, brochures, catalogues, etc.) for institutions and locations.
How does Uranus work?
Uranus works through its headquarters located in Istanbul, Turkey, and over the Internet. Along with the headquarters, photos and books can be purchased directly, instantly and safely through its website. Archive photos have been priced according to content and subject.
What subjects does Uranus’ archive cover?
The archive covers mainly Turkey and 17 other countries. All photos are documentary photos, and are concerned with nature and all habitats. The cultural properties reflecting the past civilizations of the world and today’s habitats are depicted in colour or black and white photos.
What are the technical qualities of Uranus’ archive?
The photographs were taken with analog cameras from 1983 to 2005, and with digital cameras from 2005 onwards. Along with black and white and diapositive films (24x36 mm and 6x7 cm), the archive also contains digital photos. The resolution and sizes of the photos in the archive differ according to the shooting year and camera type. The resolution and size of digital photos are 300 dpi, 3000x2000 pixels; 300 dpi, 4288x2848 pixels; 350 dpi, 6000x4000 pixels; 300 dpi, 7360x4912 pixels and 350 dpi 7952x5304 pixels. The resolution and size of 24x36 mm photo scans in the archive are 300 dpi, 5411x3657 pixels, and photo scans for 6x7 cm are 300 dpi, 10730x8443 pixels.
What are Uranus’ publications and how can they be purchased?
You can purchase our publications for artistic, documentary and promotional purposes from the website, as well as from bookstores, national and international websites. Books ordered from our website or through our publishing house will be delivered within 1 to 4 business days via courier within Turkey. For orders above 3000 TL inside Turkey, the courier fee will be covered by Uranus. For international deliveries, the courier fee falls to the buyer.
Our publications are delivered by PTT registered mail within 1 to 3 weeks. If faster delivery is required, our publications can be delivered anywhere in the world within 2 to 7 business days, provided that the extra courier fee is paid by the buyer. Any issues or costs that may arise at customs at the destination fall to the buyer, as such deliveries are in line with the legislations of the Republic of Turkey. Uranus bears no liability for any problems arising in customs at the delivery destination.
